Join our expert guide and skipper onboard Sootychaser on the Otago Harbour, Dunedin. On this 2 hour cruise (approx) we look for seals, sea lions, albatross, penguins, sea birds and much more, at Taiaroa Head nature reserve. We will not only look for rare and endangered wildlife, but you'll learn about the working Port at Port Chalmers, shipwrecks on Quarantine Island, the volcanic nature of the area, early European and Whaling history and much more, from the comfort and safety of this custom built vessel, all while sitting near your expert guide. You will start and finish at the same location, unless you would like to finish in a different location, then please ask us:)

Our Dunedin water taxi service makes it easy to travel from one side of the harbour to the other. Ferry runs between Port Chalmers, Portobello and Quarantine Island. have coffee or a beverage on the other side, visit the playground at Portobello, have an ice cream, go for a walk with friends! You can bring your bike or your dog! You will receive a commentary along the way making this a tour in itself! Infact, if you choose not to get off on the other side, we call that the Mini Tour! We work closely with Wildlife pencil Artist Ferne Eagle, who designs and draws local wildlife that we see on our trips to print in colour on T-Shirts, masks, hats and more. Made to order and some stock available onboard Sootychaser, or order online. We can post overseas or locally.
